Too fast, too furious—and way too hot to handle…
Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she’s racing against Hayden.
As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense—and strictly forbidden—attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. **Krystle’s 3 Star Review**
When I first saw that S.C. Stephens had a new book out I was SO excited. I signed up for an ARC immediately and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I didn’t read the synopsis for this one because I love to go in blind so right from the start this one gave me a few reasons to be shocked…
Right off the bat I realized this was a book about motorcycle racers. I love to read about something different than the usual and this is something I hadn’t read about before so I was very excited…I kept reading and found out that the main character is a female…heck.yes. A female motorcycle racer…bad ass, right?
Well, at least it had me hoping! Unfortunately, the main character pissed me off in more ways than one and although I was rooting for her time and time again, she made me want to pull my hair out!
Thankfully, the guy that was after her was intriguing, sexy and definitely one of the main reasons I enjoyed the book. Also, he made her tone her crazy down a bit and she was a little more bearable for me thanks to him. There were also some secondary characters that I also loved and others that drove me just as crazy. Although I can’t say that these character weren’t some of my all time favorites, I can say I enjoyed reading about them and they did get some emotions out of me.
I think that the title of this one gave so much hope that this would be a fast paced story that was exciting from start to finish but it did seem to drag on for me in the beginning. There were lots of tidbits that fed my desire for it to be what I had hoped it would be but it just seemed to take so long to get to any of the greatness. I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it all because I did, I just wished there was a little more BAM like I’m used to from this author. Forbidden romance is another thing that I can’t help but love and though this book did have it, I was annoyed by the reasons that it was forbidden and kept hoping the main characters would just stand up for themselves.
Although this story fell short in a few ways for me, I enjoyed some of it and it definitely left me wanting more. For those thinking that this is a stand alone I want to make it clear that you are definitely left with lots of questions and will want to move on to the next book.
Overall I give this one 3 Stars and I’m excited to see where the story goes!
