Their love led to a lie.

Their truth led to the end.

Scottish enigma Brigs McGregor is crawling out from the ashes. After losing his wife and son in a car accident – and, subsequently, his job – he’s finally moving forward with his life, securing a prestigious teaching position at the University of London and starting a new chapter in the city. Slowly, but surely, he’s pushing past the guilt and putting his tragic past behind him.

Until he sees her.

Natasha Trudeau once loved a man so much she thought she’d die without him. But their love was wrong, doomed from the start, and when their world crashed around them, Natasha was nearly buried in the rubble. It took years of moving on to forget him, and now that she’s in London, she’s ready to start over again.

Until she sees him.

Because some loves are too dangerous to ever rekindle.

And some loves are too powerful to ignore.

Can you ever have a second chance at a love that ruined you?

The Lie is a second-chance romance with a dark, forbidden twist.

*Krystle’s 5 Star Review*

It’s no secret that I love all things Karina Halle… I literally have never read a book of hers that I didn’t enjoy and I hope that it stays that way for all of her writing days! Usually I stalk all her groups and always pay attention to the ARC sign ups for her books so I can get my paws on them asap! Now that my little 4 month old love takes up most of my time, I missed all talk of ARC signups and I was crushed. I was in a book funk for weeks and knew that The Lie would probably drag me out of it but only had a couple weeks to wait so I figured I could just wait it out…but then I found a giveaway for an ARC and entered…and thank you Sweet Baby Jesus, I WON!

So yeah, I devoured this book and absolutely adored every bit of it. I fell in love with these characters immediately and felt every bit of their love story deep in my bones. I felt their chemistry, their guilt, their love, their desires. Seriously, Karina did an OUTSTANDING job making you believe every bit of this story.

This book will make you laugh, cry, swoon and probably even cringe. It has it all and you’re never really quite sure how it’s going to end up. I promise you that every emotion is worth it and that you will love the entire journey.

The Lie is a stand alone but if you have the time I would definitely read the other books about the other McGregor men first since they do have intertwining characters. If you don’t want to read that many books though, you will not be lost in the story at all, you’ll just have a few spoilers on how the lives of some of the other family members have turned out.

Thank you for another wonderful book, Karina! Keep on writing and I’ll keep on reading ❤
