**Tug’s character was introduced in KJ Bell’s debut Irreparable series. However, TUG is not part of the series and can be read without reading the other two books beforehand.**
Aidan Hunter lost the only girl he ever loved to his older brother. To numb his pain, he drinks in excess, parties too hard, and sleeps with countless women. When his family expresses concern, he does what he’s been taught to do—fake it and pretend his life is perfect. Pretend he loves his new girl and pretend his heart isn’t broken.
Maria Santiago is simply trying to survive each day until she finishes college. As a single mother, life is a constant struggle. Add running from a dangerous past and working in the oldest profession, and all she has is hope for a better life. Hope one day she will no longer feel shame and hope her past never catches up with her.
After Aidan pays to spend one wild night with Maria, pretending to be unaffected by her is impossible. Their night comes to an explosive end and Maria hopes she never sees him again, but Aidan refuses to give up. As Maria begins to accept that Aidan’s feelings for her are genuine, someone from her past threatens her life. Aidan’s not intimidated and takes a huge risk to protect her.
Will the risk pay off and allow Aidan the opportunity to provide Maria with the better life she’s been hoping for?

Tug by KJ Bell is a steamy read that kept me on my toes from the very first page to the very last. It’s filled with everything you could want in a book. It’s got the crazy love story, suspenseful twists and turns, hot sex scenes, swoon-worthy romance and so much more. It’s filled with strippers, very hot and very rich men, drug lords, rock stars…seriously this book just has it all.
This book stems from another one of KJ’s series and although I do wish I had read those books first so that I could have known more about the back story that was going on it definitely wasn’t necessary. I think I would have loved the books even more than I did if I had read the other books first but even without that I felt a strong connection to the characters and now I just look forward to going back and reading the other books.
Tug, the male lead character is a walking contradiction. He can be an asshole or he can be sweet as can be. He can be the guy that’ll wham-bam-thank-ya ma’am and send you on your way and not feel an ounce of regret or he can be your best friend and be there for you no matter what even when you don’t deserve it. He is hott as heck, a hard worker, great with kids and so much more. He made me feel so many different emotions that I can’t even imagine what it’d be like to be one of the women in his life.
Maria, the female lead character, is a bad bitch. Really, that’s the best way to describe her. She’s tough as nails and strong as heck. She does what has to be done, makes hard decisions, works hard, plays hard and still finds time to be a great Mom and take care of her sick Grandpa. Although she was really frustrating at times I couldn’t help but feel for Maria and admire her strength. She has a crazy history and has made tough decisions her whole life.
I really enjoyed all of the other characters in this book as well. There were some I adored, some that drove me nuts and some that I can’t wait to find out more about. Whether I loved them or hated them I loved reading about each and every one.
This book does end in a bit of a cliff-hanger but don’t let that deter you from reading. Enjoy the crazy ride and join us all in begging KJ for the next book!
I give this one somewhere between 4 and 4.5 stars and CAN NOT WAIT for book 2!
